More Then Meets The Eye (Chapter 2)

I role over on my side and move my leg out from under the covers. My foot gets hit with cool morning air. I keep my eyes closed to keep the sun from blinding me. Sleep. I sigh in contentment, a night of sleep and not having someone wake me up in the morning. And this is why I always loved Saturdays. Well…I can’t waste my whole day. I roll onto my back and rub my eyes.

“What time is it?” I wonder aloud, trying to stifle a yawn.

“About 10.” answers a voice, sounding amused. My hands stop moving, covering my eyes.

“And how long have YOU been here?” I ask in an attempt to ask casually, moving my hands slowly away from my eyes and looking at the person sitting on my desk across from my bed.

“About 8 hours.” he says trying to hide his smile. I sit up and stretch, pulling my hair into a messy bun so it will stay out of my eyes.

“And who and what are you?” ask with a slight attitude. Looking him over. He doesn’t look like he’s going to hurt me, and there’s nothing about him that screams ‘danger’ so I relax slightly, well, as much as anyone can relax with some creep in there room.

“Who and what are YOU?” he throws back with the same attitude,

“I asked first.” I say pointedly crossing my arms, it’s to early for this…

“Yes. But mine are more important.” he answers stiffly.

“Fine. Let’s play a game.” I grumble.

“A game…?” he asks raising his eye brow at me.

“Yes. I ask a question and you answer. Then we switch.” I explain, he shrugs in response.

“What is your name?” I ask.

“My name is Asklepiades and yours?” he answers.

“Serenity. Is there anyway to shorten that?” I ask with a smile.

“Not to my knowledge, what are you?” he asks looking me over. Hmm…he’s being way to formal, I frown at him before answering.

“Could I call you Alex? And I’m a human.” I answer.

“Alex…sure.” a smile graces across his face before disappearing again. “Why did you call me?”

“I called you?” I ask confused.

“Is that your question?” he asks, showing me a smile.

“No! My question is what are you. And my answer is I have no idea what your talking about.” I huff at him.

“I’m a demon. And are you sure your human…?” he asks frowning.

“Demon?” I voice my thoughts aloud, looking him over. He has messy blond hair, beep blue eyes, slightly pointed ears with earrings lining them, fair skin, tall, strongly built and- I blush as I realize I was staring at him. Looking away quickly I clear my throat.

“I mean demons aren’t real.” I say, looking back at his eyes. Alex chuckles softly before answering.

“Oh really…?” he asks, looking at me.

“Yes.” I answer, not backing down, but slightly worried about what he’s going to do.

Alex slides off my desk and walks towards my bed, grabbing the book of spells off my nightstand. I move over just as he sits on the edge on my bed.

Alex opens the book and flips through the pages.

“This,” he stops flipping and shows me the page, my eyes widening. What happened yesterday coming back to me.

“Your the-you-you had a sword! And those…lynxes… And you were fighting that one guy-oh my goodness are you okay?” I gush, trying not to trip over my words. Alex gives me an amused look.

“Yes I was, and my familiars, I’m fine.” he answers, a smile lighting up his face.

I look at his hand holding the book, with three scratches making a star. I lightly touch the back of his hand.

“I have these too,” I look back at my own hand next to his.

“Yes, that happened during the spell, binding me to you…” he shuts the book and turns to look at me.

“Wait. Bound to me?” I asked shocked.

“Yes, I will from this point on always be by your side, that is, if I get something in return.” he states simply.

“Something in return? Like what? I’m just a normal girl.” I explain looking at him. His eyes meet mine and I take in a deep breath.

“Your hurt,” I whisper, he looks at me frowning.

“What?” Alex asks.

“Your hurt, your suffering from something,” I shake my head to clear my thoughts. “I mean, if there’s anything you want to talk about, I’m always here.” I finish giving him a bright smile, trying to cover up what I just said.

“No, you were talking about me suffering… What were you saying?” he asks, looking at me.

“Well, I was just stating the fact that your hurt, not physically or anything, like mentally or emotionally.” I try to explain.

“Your…your The Healer, Everyones talking about. You need to come with me, so I can get you away from all the angels…” he trails off, deep in thought.

“Pause. Half time. Stop. Rewind. I’m not going anywhere. And-” I glance at my clock. “I’m going to take a shower, and when I get out I want to WHOLE STORY. What you are, these ‘angels’, what a healer is, and EVERYTHING.” I tell him as I slide off my bed and grab a shirt and a pair of pants. I pause at the door before walking out.

“And please don’t destroy my room or anything while I’m gone.” with that parting note I walk across the hall to the bathroom, closing and looking the door behind me. A slight growl comes from my room. Sighing I turn the warm water on as I pull my hair-tie out and finger brush my hair. Okay. So the book was real, it does have spells in it and I’m now stuck with a ‘demon’. I roll my eyes at the thought. Am I really starting to believe this guy?

After getting out of my nice warm shower, I pull on a pair of purple plaid pj bottoms, a green lacy tank top, with an a short over the shoulder shirt. I glance at my hair in the mirror. Wavy, of course. Shrugging I unlock the door and step out.

“Took you long enough.” Alex says from standing next to the door. I jump out of surprise and put a hand over my heart.

“What the hell? Are you TRYING to scare me to death?” I yell at him. He laughs, shaking his head.

“I wasn’t trying to, but the look on your face was worth it.” he laughs.

“Jerk.” I grumble under my breath as I walk towards the kitchen, Alex following close behind.

“So…” I ask as the unfinished question as I walk into the kitchen and pick up an apple from the fruit bowl in the middle of the table.

“So what?” he asks tilting his head to the side with a confused look. My eye twitches slightly. If this guy is trying to annoy me. It’s working.

“What’s the whole story?” I ask with a hint of acid in my voice.

“Oh! I can’t tell you…but…I know someone that can.” he says giving me a ‘I’m up to no good’ smile.

“We could call her…or him?” I wonder aloud.

“Actually…I’m pretty sure she is just DYING to meet you in person…” he trails off.

“She isn’t coming here.” I tell him as I set my apple down, not even eating any.

“Oh. She wouldn’t be coming here. We would be going to her.” he says giving me that smile again.

“I’m not going anywhere with you. And you can’t make me.” I mumble the last part, losing my confidence quickly with the look he’s giving me.

“Oh really?” he asks as he raises an eye brow and takes a step towards me.

“Alex!” I shriek as he lunges at me. Ducking, I run the opposite direction.

“Your just making this so much harder then this needs to be.” he laughs quietly. I turn around only to run right into Alex’s chest. He bends down and grabs my legs, coming up fast carrying me over my shoulder. Fireman’s carry. I put my hands against his back so my face doesn’t slam into his back.

“Your such a jerk! Put me down dammit!” I yell kicking my legs trying to loosen his grip.

“Do you REALLY want me to do that?” he asks clearly amused with my struggling.

“YES!” I scream. He loosens his grip and I slid forward. My eyes widen. I wrap my arms around his torso trying to stop from falling forward.

“I give, I give! Don’t drop me!” I slam my eyes shut and grind my teeth. Okay. So this guy really likes to just grind my gears for the fun of it.

“Didn’t think so.” he laughs. Wind whips through my hair and I try to look at what’s going on that I can’t see.

“Alex what are you doing…?” I ask, slightly afraid to hear the answer.

“Attempting to make a portal to my world in your kitchen.” he answers simply. My eye twitches again.

“Asklepiades Something Demon. I swear to God. If you destroy anything in this house you’ll regret it.” I hiss.

“I highly doubt that’ll happen.” he says as he takes a step forward toward the portal. I can practically feel the darkness seeping through the portal. A shiver runs down my spine.

“Here we go.” Alex says before tightening his grip on my legs.

“Alex let’s talk this through…I’ll do almost anything…please don’t go in there.” I plead, if I could, I would be fake crying.

“To late.” he laughs as he jumps into the darkness

“Alex!” I scream as darkness and shadows cloud my vision and I’m plunged into nothingness
